I have always loved art.
As a child in kindergarten I was first introduced to art. I remember painting with poster paints on a large easel. My brother went on to obtain a Masters degree in art and he became my mentor. He was 8 years older than me, and I had the same art teacher as he in high school. I went on to attending various art workshops throughout the years but choose a career path in nursing instead of an art major. My paintings are in private collections in Alabama, Wisconsin, Georgia and Florida.
In 2004 I attended a workshop in Giverney, France. Painting daily for two weeks in Monet's garden led me toward impressionistic painting of which florals are my favorite. I consider myself a mixed media artist but now I paint exclusively in acrylics.
My background includes a career in Obstetric nursing with a degree from Samford university in Birmingham Alabama. I organized and managed the Lactation Center at Cobb Hospital in Atlanta from 1993 to 1998. I relocated back to Birmingham as a part time consultant until retirement at age 70.
I have lived in Mentone for the past 17 years where I stay active painting, doing volunteering at a local church's food pantry. I enjoy making fairy houses out of natural material found in my own wooded yard and selling them at a local business. I also conduct workshops in the making of the same.
PS: For my 80th birthday I took a year and a half of piano lessons.
