Blooming Potential
Victoria Wheeler Rome, Georgia |
The last foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Northwest Georgia is where it feels like home for emerging artist Victoria Wheeler. Her childhood on a farm in Esom Hill fostered an appreciation of nature and the significance of community connection that is the foundation for her artwork today. Victoria holds a bachelor’s degree from Kennesaw State University in sociology. Prior to embracing motherhood and discovering her artistic potential, she pursued a Juris doctorate degree at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. Today, she lives in Rome, Georgia with her husband and four children. When family is not the focus, she journeys down a path of artistic self discovery through the form of paper flowers, embracing the infinite blooming potential for creativity to become reality.
Inspired by the undeniable beauty found within nature, my art utilizes paper, hand cut, to create 3D elements for a whimsical display of vibrant colors and surprising dimensions through flower creations. Flowers are often incorporated into significant moments of our lives, not solely because of their beauty, but because of the imprint they hold within our memories of past experiences. Gravitating towards the comforts of those memories is irresistible. I view my work as the blooming potential of past moments we unexpectedly encounter in the present. The seed for nostalgia to flower from memories, creating a sense of connection, and ultimately empowering positivity to unfold in the future.
