Stone & Soil: Hypertufa Pumpkin Workshop

Let’s roll up our sleeves and get a little messy! In this fun, hands-on workshop, participants will create their own charming hypertufa pumpkins while learning how this lightweight, durable material can be used to make unique seasonal and garden décor.
Using a mixture of Portland cement, perlite, coco coir, and water, you'll shape two pumpkins with stockings and rubber bands to create their signature ridges. These pumpkins will need time to cure at home before they can be painted and finished. While those are curing, you'll decorate two pre-made hypertufa pumpkins with paint and embellishments such as sticks, rope, wire, or vines to create beautiful pumpkins ready to display right away.

About the class: Learn the step-by-step process of mixing hypertufa, forming realistic pumpkin shapes, and finishing your creations with decorative stems and accents. Because your handmade pumpkins will need time to cure, you'll take them home with care instructions, painting tips, and creative ideas for making more hypertufa projects to enjoy throughout the seasons. Be sure to wear clothing you don't mind getting a little dirty—the process can be messy, but that's part of the fun!
