While studying Architecture at Auburn University, many of his classes were in the art department with a focus on drawing. He sketched during various travels in the United States, Europe, Bahamas, and the Windward/Leeward Islands. After trying pencil, watercolor, acrylic and other mediums he settled on pen and ink with watercolor wash as his favorite.
