Kelly’s love for art and painting began with private art classes under the direction of MaLou Smith. After graduating from High School, she studied art at Gadsden State Community College. She also taught private art classes for several years.
In the late 80’s Kelly put her artistic talent to work and became the first and only female sign painter to work for Alabama Outdoor Advertising in Birmingham, AL. In 1992 she founded her own company, Kelly Signs. Kelly Signs started out as a billboard company, painting billboards for outdoor advertising agencies throughout the southeast. From there the business grew from painting billboards to a full service commercial sign shop.
After twenty successful years in the sign industry Kelly, and her husband, Richard decided it was time to slow down the sign business. Kelly continued to work in the sign industry, running a new business, Kelly Sign Consultants.
In 2018 Kelly sold the sign business and began a new adventure. That is when Lookout Mountain Goat Ranch Originals was started. It began on Broad Street in Gadsden Alabama as a very unique gift shop and art studio. “The Goat Ranch” was featured on Fred Hunter’s Absolutely Alabama and was also known for Goat Yoga classes. Today Kelly has a studio at the farm and continues to create her own very unique artwork.
Kelly and her husband, Richard live in the Black Creek Community of Etowah County at The Lookout Mountain Goat Ranch.
