Alisha Griffin
Hoover, AL Facebook page: Alisha Designs Fiber Art In our modern society, mass produced items are easy to find. We seek out the “one of a kind” as a way to connect ourselves with what is original, meaningful and ecologically ethical. Birmingham artist Alisha Griffin translates this philosophy into unique wearable art that begins with handcrafting fiber and fabric into yarn on a spinning wheel and then transforming her own yarns into beautiful, colorful accessories. As a knitting and fiber enthusiast, she was introduced to the creative process of spinning by a fellow artist but struggled to find someone to teach this lost art. Her technique is self-taught, driven by hours of research and the intuitive knowledge that she had found her artistic métier. And so Alisha’s ArtWear was born. You can see the intricate details and passion for fiber in pieces that will become your own personal signature. Her ArtWear have been featured in art museum gift shops throughout the Southeast. She also exhibits her work in numerous juried art shows. |
