Don began carving in 1995 at Horsin’ Around, the carousel horse carving school in Chattanooga. After carving his own horse, he remained at the school as a volunteer instructor and carved Olivia, the female ostrich on the Coolidge Park Carousel. He soon branched out into walking sticks and canes, Celtic crosses and relief panels, figurines, and cottage signs. Now living in Mentone, Don continues to carve whatever he and his clients can dream up.

James Finley
Chattanooga, TN

Email
James Finley, owner of Finwood Staffs, has been designing and carving hiking staffs and wood art since 1978. Making staffs for personal use at first, Jim was soon getting requests for staffs from friends and other hikers. Since then, his hiking staffs and monopod staffs have been used all around the world. Hikers and photographers appreciate the strength and ergonomic design of Jim’s staffs and know that they will offer a life time of service.  Along with the staffs, Jim’s wood art began as a result of years spent hiking and paddling. Seeing the magic in a piece of driftwood or tree stump, Jim has created fantasy objects of crystal and wood.
